I thought it wa...Almost opposite reasons, actually. I thought it was *too* "funny", none of the beautiful melancholia of the text survived the "hilarity". You don't make something funny by "making it funny" - it's totally achievable and much more satisfying when realistic levels of sorrow are maintained which lead naturally to better laughs. If that even made sense.
